  4.                       Catalogue Update
  5.  
  6. All disks  in  this  catalogue  are  £1.00  unless otherwise
  7. stated. Disks can be  ordered  by  ringing 0983 867377 (5pm-
  8. 10pm weekdays, all day  Saturdays  and  Sundays) and stating
  9. the name of the program or  the  disk number. Your disk will
  10. then be despatched immediately and you should receive it the
  11. next day (if you order on a Saturday, you will receive it on
  12. a Monday). When you receive  your  disk you should then send
  13. of the right  amount.  We  accept  cheques,  cash and postal
  14. orders. Cheques and postal orders  should be made payable to
  15. D. PETTIFER only and NOT Dynamic PDL.
  16.  
  17. All programs which are  not  compatible  with  the Atari STE
  18. computer will have NOT STE after their description.
  19.  
  20. All programs which are  compatible  with  ONLY the Atari STE
  21. computer will have STE ONLY after their description.
  22.  
  23. If you  see  1Mb  ONLY,  2Mb  ONLY  or  4Mb  ONLY  after the
  24. description of a program it  means  that  the program can be
  25. used with 1Mb, 2Mb or 4Mb of RAM only.

  27. Programs which are not compatible with a certain TOS version
  28. will also be shown.

  30. Programs are listed in  alphabetical  order  with their disk
  31. number making it easier  for  you  to  find  the program you
  32. want. Should you require  assistance  in  finding a program,
  33. please call us between the times  stated above. If you would
  34. like your program to be listed in our catalogue, please send
  35. it to us on a blank disk.  We  will then send you £1.00, and
  36. if you are the author of that  program, five disks of PD. WE
  37. ONLY  DEAL  IN  SHAREWARE  AND  PD  (AND  PROGRAMS  SUCH  AS
  38. CHARITYWARE,  POSTCARDWARE  ETC.)  AND  NOT  YET  COMMERCIAL
  39. SOFTWARE.

  53.            UTILITY PROGRAMS AND DESK ACCESSORIES
  54.  
  55. 1ST WORD, DISK NUMBER UTL003. 1st Word is a very easy to use
  56. word-processor. It was,  in  fact,  one  of  the first word-
  57. processors around on the ST  scene.  It uses GEM which makes
  58. it very user-friendly, and is  compatible  with all Atari ST
  59. computers. It works in  high  and  medium resolutions. Up to
  60. four documents can be in memory. It is normally in the Word-
  61. processor column, but is in this  column because it comes as
  62. part of the NEWSDISK package (see below)!
  63.  
  64. 2.5MB STE, DISK NUMBER  UTL001.  With  this usefule utility,
  65. you can  have  2.5Mb  in  your  STE  which  is  not normally
  66. allowed!!
  67.  
  68. ATARI  TEXT,  DISK  NUMBER   UTL005.   This  is  a  TELETEXT
  69. simulator, designed to display disk magazines, documents and
  70. catalogues. It is used  by  the  Atari  Update User Group to
  71. display their  diskzine  on.  It  works  in  low  and medium
  72. resolution and is exactly  like  TELETEXT on the television.
  73. Brilliant. Now you can  compile  your  own diskzines! COLOUR
  74. ONLY
  75. AUDIOCALC, DISK NUMBER UTL002. This  is a desk accessory for
  76. musicians only. It allows them  to  calculate all the timing
  77. and stuff in their music programs. Very useful.
  78.  
  79. BIG TEXT, DISK  NUMBER  UTL001.  With  this  program you can
  80. create letterheads and posters and  print  them out on a dot
  81. matrix printer. It is a  sort  of  stop  gap between the DTP
  82. program and  word-processor.  Several  styles  of  text  are
  83. available as well as boxes and fill patterns.
  84.  
  85. DISKFREE, DISK NUMBER UTL002. A  program which allows you to
  86. keep track of how much disk space you are using and how much
  87. you've got left. A desk accessory program.
  88.  
  89. EPS2CVG, DISK NUMBER UTL002. This is  what is know as an EPS
  90. converter. We don't know  what  this  is.  If you do, please
  91. contact us!
  92.  
  93. EPSJET, DISK NUMBER UTL001.  If  you  own a Deskjet printer,
  94. this is for you. You  can  now  use EPSON only programs, and
  95. still print to your printer.  Pop  this  in your auto folder
  96. and it automatically changes  Epson  files to Deskjet files.
  97. There is no increase in  quality,  though, you still get the
  98. same quality output as you would from an Epson dot matrix. A
  99. must for all Deskjet owners.
  100.  
  101. FASTCOPY III, DISK NUMBER UTL001. Come on! You all know what
  102. this is. Fastcopy III is the BEST PD copier out.
  103.  
  104. FINDER, DISK NUMBER  UTL001.  With  this,  you  can now find
  105. those files hidden deep on  your  hard or floppy disks. Type
  106. in the name of the file, something the file might have in it
  107. or the date and Finder will  do  a search and report back to
  108. you.
  109.  
  110. GENERAL GDOS, DISK NUMBER UTL001.  Prints  out and (I think)
  111. converts GDOS files and fonts.
  112.  
  113. HPCHROME V1.5, DISK NUMBER UTL001.  HP  Chrome allows you to
  114. print out your pictures in  colour  on a standard monochrome
  115. Deskjet by swapping  cartridges  from  Magenta, Cyan, Yellow
  116. and Black. It will  also  work  with bubblejets and standard
  117. colour Deskjets. Now  you  can  print  out  all those pretty
  118. colour picture files. Caters for several picture files.
  119.  
  120. MEMWATCH, DISK NUMBER UTL001. Keep an eye on how much memory
  121. you're using and how  much  you've  got  left with this auto
  122. folder program.
  123.  
  124. NEWSDISK CREATOR, DISK  NUMBER  UTL003.  Now  you can create
  125. your  own  disk  magazines  with  this  brilliant  displayer
  126. program. It's  very,  very  good  and  comes  with  all  the
  127. programs required to get  you  started (Noisetracker, Typing
  128. Tutor, 1st Word)
  129.  
  130. NOISETRACKER, DISK NUMBER UTL003.  This  has  to be the best
  131. soundtracker program in the  PD.  It  is  also  in the SOUND
  132. section but has been put in this section because it comes as
  133. part of the NEWSDISK pack (see above!)
  134.  
  135. PROFILE, DISK NUMBER UTL002. This little GEM (Ha, ha ha!!! -
  136. please excuse me) gives you all  the  stuff you need to know
  137. about your  system;  how  much  memory  you  have,  what TOS
  138. version you have, what  version  of  GEMDOS  you have and so
  139. on... Programmers - look out for this one!
  140.  
  141. PROTECT 6  VIRUS  KILLER,  DISK  NUMBER  UTL002.  This  is a
  142. program which is put in the  auto folder and then checks all
  143. disks put in the drive  to  see  if  they have an executable
  144. boot sector. If they do it  warns  you,  and asks you if you
  145. would like to destroy  the  boot  sector  (which  could be a
  146. virus). If it is OK, it will  ask you if you want to protect
  147. the disk. A brilliant program. DON'T USE THIS ON GAMES DISKS
  148. - YOU COULD RUIN YOUR GAMES!!!
  149.  
  150. RDE RAMDISK,  DISK  NUMBER  UTL001.  This  is  a reset-proof
  151. ramdisk. It's one of  the  best  on  the  ST market. You can
  152. load, save and create ramdisks to any drive letter (except A
  153. and B, of course). It survives  resets and is very useful if
  154. you only have one drive.
  155.  
  156. READER 2, DISK NUMBER  UTL001.  Ever  been  in a program and
  157. wanted to read a file? Well,  now  you can with Reader 2. It
  158. is a desk accessory that allows you to read files from disks
  159. in the middle of programs. Very useful indeed.
  160.  
  161. RENAME IT!, DISK NUMBER UTL001. A program that allows you to
  162. rename files with lowercase (small) letters and non-standard
  163. symbols like the TM and copyright signs.
  164.  
  165. SEBRA, DISK NUMBER UTL002. This  is the best high resolution
  166. emulator in the PD market.  It  allows colour monitor owners
  167. to use high resolution programs  on  their computers. It has
  168. several settings for clarity and speed. COLOUR ONLY.
  169.  
  170. SELECTRIC, DISK  NUMBER  UTL002.  A  good  replacement  file
  171. selector that allows  you  to  copy  files,  rename them and
  172. format disks. A brilliant  replacement  for the standard GEM
  173. one.
  174.  
  175. SPRINT, DISK NUMBER UTL002. A  very nice printer accelerator
  176. auto folder program. It  speeds  up  printing  by 50%. Works
  177. best with dot  matrix  printers,  although  speed  change is
  178. noticeable on  inkjets/bubblejets.  Not  for  laser  or page
  179. printer owners.
  180.  
  181. ST ZIP  V2.2,  DISK  NUMBER  UTL004.  The  most  famous file
  182. compressor, archiver and dearchiver program  there is. It is
  183. very  easy  to  use  and  can  even  create  self-extracting
  184. archives. Used by the glossy  magazines, especially Atari ST
  185. User.
  186.  
  187. TERADESK, DISK NUMBER  UTL001.  A  good replacement desktop.
  188. Allows you to do loads more  than  the GEM one. For example,
  189. has  loads  of  new  icons  which  can  be  changed  and  is
  190. compatible with TOS 2.06 icons,  it  also allows you to drag
  191. icons onto the desktop, assign  programs to function keys so
  192. you can run the program of your choice, no matter if it's in
  193. 100 folders, by pressing a  function  key, and allows you to
  194. view documents  in  a  window.  Has  loads  more  than this,
  195. though!
  196.  
  197. TYPING TUTOR, DISK NUMBER  UTL003.  This program teaches you
  198. how to  type  superfast.  Very  useful  and  does  work with
  199. practice.
  200.  
  201. Z_FOLDER, DISK NUMBER UTL001. This desk accessory allows you
  202. to create folders from within programs. Useful. MONO ONLY.

  206.                GAMES, ADVENTURES AND PUZZLES
  207.  
  208. BIG LIFE, DISK NUMBER GAME006.  A  weird  sort of game where
  209. you have to multiply cells. COLOUR ONLY
  210.  
  211. COLOUR CLASH, DISK NUMBER  GAME002.  A  very good PD puzzle-
  212. platform game. You control a chameleon which is on a mission
  213. to  rescue  his  girlfriend.   Very,   very  good  and  very
  214. addictive. COLOUR ONLY
  215.  
  216. CONQUEST BETA VERSION, DISK  NUMBER  GAME005. Another multi-
  217. player game,  this  time  you  battle  it  out  on  a  board
  218. displayed on screen. Very  good,  link  two STs together via
  219. the MODEM port and a NULL MODEM CABLE.
  220.  
  221. GNU CHESS, DISK NUMBER  GAME006.  A  very  classy chess game
  222. where you can play against your ST or a friend.
  223.  
  224. GRANDAD AND  THE  QUEST  FOR  THE  HOLEY  VEST,  DISK NUMBER
  225. GAME001. Wow! Brilliant, excellent  wonderful! Those are the
  226. words that some up the most popular Shareware game ever. You
  227. control Grandad who has lost his  vest. You have to help him
  228. find it by guiding him  around  his house in his wheelchair.
  229. Brilliant graphics, very addictive with brilliant puzzles. I
  230. really love this one and have just paid my registration fee.
  231. YOU HAVE TO GET THIS  TODAY  IF  YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY GOT IT.
  232. I'm not hyping it  up.  Just  take  a  look  at  some of the

  234.  
  235. GRANDAD TWO:  IN  SEARCH  OF  THE  SANDWICHES,  DISK NUMBERS
  236. GAME003 & GAME004. This is part  of  a two disk set price at
  237. £1.95.  It  is  the  sequel  to  Grandad  with  even  better
  238. graphics, a bigger playing area  and better puzzles. I can't
  239. praise this enough. GET IT  TODAY.  It  is so detailed - you
  240. can even hear people flushing  the  chain when you're in the
  241. toilet!! PRICE: £1.95 COLOUR ONLY

  243. INVADERS, DISK NUMBER GAME002.  The  classic INVADERS arcade
  244. game is brought to your  ST  courtesy of Dave Munsie. COLOUR
  245. ONLY

  247. KID GP, DISK NUMBER  GAME002.  A  Bubble  Bobble look alike.
  248. Brilliant. Again, brought to  you  courtesy  of Dave Munsie.

  251. MIDI MAZE II, DISK NUMBER GAME005. If you have two STs and a
  252. friend, GET THIS ONE.  You  link  up  your  STs via the MIDI
  253. ports and have to go  round  different mazes, trying to find
  254. each other. When you find  your  opponent  you have to blast
  255. the hell out of him  to  get  some  money.  When you get the
  256. money you can buy power ups  like  a MAP, BIG SHOT, OPPONENT
  257. ON MAP and INVISIBILITY. It's  all  brilliant.  And it has a
  258. very nice soundtrack. You can link up to 16 STs together and
  259. play in teams  if  you  want.  So  addictive.  And it's mono
  260. compatible. COLOUR AND HIGH-RES COMPATIBLE!!
  261.  
  262. NOVA, DISK NUMBER  GAME005.  A  weird  sort  of puzzle game.

  265. PLOP, DISK NUMBER GAME002. Well done DigiTallis! A brilliant
  266. board-type game where you can play against the computer or a
  267. friend. Has some good sound  effects,  is very addictive and
  268. has classy graphics. COLOUR ONLY

  270. PUNT, DISK NUMBER GAME006. Go around collecting little ball-
  271. type things  to  complete  the  levels  in  this platformer.

  274. SNACMAN, DISK NUMBER GAME002. A  Brilliant pacman game where
  275. other players can control the  ghosts as well! Has brilliant
  276. graphics and sound, and on  the  STE  it is enhanced. Brill!

  279. SOMA, DISK NUMBER GAME002.  Another  weird  sort of platform
  280. game. Very good, though! COLOUR ONLY

  282. SPHERICAL, DISK NUMBER GAME005. This  game  is a rather nice
  283. platformer, although very hard. Try it  - you might like it!

  286. SQUIDGY,  DISK  NUMBER  GAME002.  A  hard,  but  very  good,
  287. platform puzzle game. Has some nice graphics.
  288.  
  289. VIOLENCE, DISK  NUMBER  GAME006.  A  VERY  hard shoot-'em-up
  290. game.  Quite  addictive  with  some  nice  extras  and  good
  291. graphics.

  297. 525 CONVERTER,  DISK  NUMBER  SOUND001.  A  brilliant  sound
  298. sample converter. Priceless for the sound fanatic!

  300. DMA SOUND, DISK NUMBER  SOUND001.  A  program that plays DMA
  301. sounds. STE ONLY PLEASE!
  302.  
  303. G_BELL, DISK NUMBER SOUND001. A  program  that allows you to
  304. assign sound samples  to  actions;  e.g.,  opening a window,
  305. loading a program, deleting  a  file.  Requires a hard drive
  306. and an STE and needs MiNT (in stock very soon!)
  307.  
  308. MUSIC PROGRAMS, DISK NUMBER  SOUND001.  Place these programs
  309. in your AUTO folder and music will be played while you're on
  310. the desktop, in programs etc. Whatever you do, there will be
  311. music! Two different tunes are in these programs.

  313. Q_PLAY_III, DISK NUMBER SOUND001. A  program that allows you
  314. to play  music  files  created  with  the  commercial  music
  315. program, Quartet.
  316.  
  317. SAM-2-DISK, DISK NUMBER  SOUND001.  Now  you  too can sample
  318. direct to your hard drive  with this Shareware program. It's
  319. brilliant! Requires 1Mb of RAM.

  325. ATARI UPDATE ISSUE  #1,  DISK  NUMBER  DMAG005.  This is the
  326. diskmag from the Atari Update  user group. Don't order until
  327. JULY 25TH as it won't be ready until then! COLOUR ONLY

  329. POWER DISKMAG ISSUE #16,  DISK  NUMBER  DMAG001. This is the
  330. diskmag  created  by  James   L.  Mathews.  It's  absolutely
  331. brilliant so why not get it. COLOUR ONLY - Shareware
  332.  
  333. POWER DISKMAG ISSUE #17, DISK NUMBER DMAG002. They just keep
  334. getting better!!!

  341. pictures into ASCII text files!!

  343. KANDINSKY, DISK NUMBER ART001.  A  really good monochrom art
  344. package. Very good in fact! MONO ONLY
  345.  
  346. MORPH, DISK NUMBER  ART001.  You  can  now create TERMINATOR
  347. style effects with this program.  Load  in one picture and a
  348. second, and get  MORPH  to  morph  them  together. Brilliant
  349. results can be achieved.
  350.  
  351. PICSWITCH V1.0, DISK  NUMBER  ART001.  The  final version of
  352. this picture converter. This  one,  however, isn't a picture
  353. converter. It's much more of  a  picture viewer and printer.
  354. You can get brilliant results  from  your printer if you use
  355. this to print those pictures!
  356.  
  357. PICSWITCH V7.0,  DISK  NUMBER  ART001.  This  version  is  a
  358. picture converter. It  converts  several  styles of pictures
  359. and also allows you to print them out. Good!
